The reporter has raised a safety concern in relation to the serviceability status of the runways and the windsock at [Location] aerodrome.
The reporter states, the runways have significant 'wash out ruts' that require filling and the end of runway [xx] is eroded from extreme use and requires re-grading works. The windsock is also unserviceable and requires replacement. (Photos supplied to the ATSB and CASA).
The reporter acknowledges that recent works including wildlife fence repairs, building up of the runways and clearing works have been conducted, however, multiple operators utilise the aerodrome on a regular basis to service the community and the reporter remains concerned about aviation safety with the current state of the aerodrome.
The aerodrome operator forwarded the concerns to their roadworks supervisor who will take action as soon as possible. In the meantime, they will be sourcing a replacement windsock as quickly as possible.
The regulator did not provide a response to this REPCON as the [Location] aerodrome is not certified and the operator has corrected the reported faults.
On 6 December 2024, the aerodrome operator advised the ATSB that runway repairs have been completed and the windsock has been replaced. (Photos provided to the ATSB and CASA).
