The ATSB is investigating a stick shaker activation involving a Saab 340, registered VH-TRX, near Merimbula Airport, NSW on 8 June 2023.

While on approach to runway 21, the aircraft experienced a momentary stick shaker activation.

To date, the ATSB investigation has included:

  • interviewing the flight crew
  • examination of operational information
  • analysis of flight recorder and air traffic surveillance data
  • examination of recorded meteorological information

The ATSB has completed the evidence collection and analysis phases of the investigation and has drafted the final report.

The draft report is undergoing internal review prior to external review by the involved parties.

The final report will be released at the conclusion of the investigation.

Should a critical safety issue be identified during the investigation, the ATSB will immediately notify relevant parties, so that appropriate safety action can be taken.
