The ATSB is investigating a wirestrike and collision with terrain involving a Robinson R44, VH-KCH, near Mansfield, Victoria on 6 July 2019.

The helicopter struck a powerline and collided with terrain, resulting in substantial damage. The passenger sustained serious injuries and the pilot sustained minor injuries.

The evidence collection phase of the investigation will include obtaining information about the accident site, interviewing the pilot and obtaining any available recorded data for analysis.

A final report will be released at the conclusion of the investigation. Should a critical safety issue be identified during the course of the investigation, the ATSB will immediately notify relevant parties so appropriate safety action can be taken.
