About REPCON
REPCON is established under the Transport Safety Investigation (Voluntary and Confidential Reporting Scheme) Regulation 2012, subsection 7(1) of which establishes the REPCON Scheme.

It allows any person who has an aviation, marine or rail safety concern to report it to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) confidentially.
Personal information will not be disclosed unless permission is granted by the individual concerned. Only de-identified information will be used for safety action.

NOTE 1: REPCON is not an alternative to the reporting requirements detailed in Regulations of the Transport Safety Investigation Regulations 2003.

NOTE 2: Submission of information known by the reporter to be false or misleading is a serious offence under section 137.1 of the Criminal Code. Aiding, abetting, counselling, procuring or urging the submission of false or misleading information is also a serious offence.

The following matters are not reportable safety concerns:
  • a) industrial relations matters
  • b) work health safety matters
  • c) matters showing a serious and imminent threat to a person’s health or life
  • d) terrorist acts
  • e) conduct that may constitute a serious crime.
