The ATSB is investigating an incorrect configuration event involving Virgin Australia Airlines Boeing 737, VH-YFZ, at Melbourne Airport, Victoria on 2 July 2025.

During an approach to land at Melbourne Airport, the crew did not conduct the landing checklist and did not arm the speed brake for automatic deployment. The crew manually raised the speed brake upon landing, and the flight concluded without further incident.

A final report will be released at the conclusion of the investigation. Should a critical safety issue be identified during the course of the investigation, the ATSB will immediately notify relevant parties, so that appropriate safety action can be taken.
