The ATSB is investigating a runway excursion involving a Cessna 310R, registered VH-NXA, at Lake Evella Airport, Northern Territory, on 29 May 2025.

During an air transport flight, it was reported that after landing the brakes failed and the aircraft overran the runway and collided with a fence. The aircraft sustained substantial damage and there were no reported injuries.

The ATSB has commenced the examination and analysis of the initial evidence collected. To date, the ATSB investigation has included:

  • interviewing the pilot
  • interviewing passengers
  • collecting operational documentation
  • examination of maintenance and pilot records
  • reviewing operator manuals and training records
  • obtaining recorded data 

A final report will be released at the conclusion of the investigation. Should a critical safety issue be identified during the course of the investigation, the ATSB will immediately notify relevant parties, so that appropriate safety action can be taken.
