The ATSB is investigating a collision with terrain involving a Robinson R44 helicopter, registered VH-HRB, approximately 95km north-west of Borroloola, Northern Territory, on 07 August 2023.

During take-off on a sight-seeing flight with 4 people on board, the aircraft collided with terrain. Two passengers and the pilot sustained minor injuries and the helicopter was substantially damaged.

As part of the investigation, ATSB investigators will interview the pilot, review any available recorded data, and collect any other relevant evidence.

A final report will be released at the conclusion of the investigation. Should a critical safety issue be identified during the course of the investigation, the ATSB will immediately notify relevant parties, so that appropriate safety action can be taken.
