The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) is investigation a brake failure and fire involving Dash 8 (DHC-8-202), VH-TQS, at Sydney Airport, New South Wales, on 8 November 2022. 

During descent, it was reported that the radar altimeter failed and during the subsequent landing, both engine manual caution lights illuminated. During taxi, the brakes failed and caught on fire, resulting in the crew initiating an emergency evacuation. The investigation is continuing.

A final report will be released at the conclusion of the investigation. Should a critical safety issue be identified during the course of the investigation, the ATSB will immediately notify relevant parties, so that appropriate safety action can be taken.
