The ATSB is investigating a stick-shaker activation involving a Saab 340B aircraft, registered as VH-ZLJ near Perth Airport, Western Australia, on 6 July 2021.

On climb from Perth Airport, while the aircraft was passing 6,000 ft, an icing system caution light illuminated and the flight crew decided to return to Perth. During descent, there was a stick-shaker alert, but the aircraft landed safely with no damage and no injuries to anyone.

The evidence collection phase of the investigation will include interviewing flight crew, reviewing operator procedures and maintenance records, and air traffic control communications and data.

A final report will be released at the conclusion of the investigation. Should a critical safety issue be identified during the course of the investigation, the ATSB will immediately notify relevant parties, so that appropriate safety action can be taken.
