The ATSB is investigating a landing gear malfunction and return involving an Airbus A320, registration VH-VFN, at Sydney Airport, New South Wales, on 1 August 2019.
During take-off, the left main landing gear torque damper pin sheared and the landing gear could not be retracted. The crew conducted a return to Sydney. During a runway inspection, the pin was located on the runway. The post-flight inspection revealed that three hydraulic lines were damaged.
The ATSB will interview involved parties, and gather additional information.
A final report will be released at the end of the investigation.
Should a critical safety issue be identified during the course of the investigation, the ATSB will immediately notify relevant stakeholders so appropriate and timely safety action can be taken.
