At about 0048 on 30 September 2017, the Australian Border Force vessel ABFC Roebuck Bay grounded near Henry Reef off the north-east coast of Queensland. The vessel was subsequently re-floated and taken under tow by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority's emergency towing vessel Coral Knight.

The ATSB has commenced an investigation and is collecting relevant evidence, including interviewing directly involved parties. The evidence will be analysed and a draft investigation report compiled. This draft report will be forwarded to relevant parties for comment prior to the completion and release of the final report.
