Airframe event involving a Cessna Aircraft Company 425/A1, VH-EGQ, Kalgoorlie, WA on 8 May 1995

The pilot reported that when cruising at FL140 he noticed that the indicated airspeed was only 190 knots (normally 200 knots) and then noticed the nose down gear light was on. Attempts to rectify the problem were unsuccessful. The pilot contacted the company's chief engineer who advised him to return. The nosewheel collapsed on landing at Kalgoorlie. The investigation found that the aircraft had been used extensively on roughA and soft strips. The nose gear actuator link had failed.
