The ATSB has commenced a transport safety investigation into an aircraft collision with water accident near Groote Eylandt, NT, on 25 August.
As reported to the ATSB the twin-engine Beech Baron 58 aircraft was on a flight from Gove when it collided with water about 60km from Groote Eylandt Aerodrome.
The ATSB calls for any witnesses who may have seen the accident, or any pilots operating in the area who may previously seen the accident aircraft in any stage of its flight or heard the pilot make radio calls, to make contact with the ATSB via the witness form on our website at their earliest convenience.
The ATSB investigation’s evidence collection phase will involve examining any recovered wreckage, interviewing witnesses and involved parties, examination of maintenance records, retrieving and reviewing recorded data, and the collection of other relevant information.
