The ATSB is satisfied that the action taken by Pacific National to promote consistency will improve risk management within the organisation. Specifically, now that operational task-based risk assessments are contained in a central repository/register it is anticipated that Pacific National will have oversight to ensure reviews are completed and risk assessment controls are monitored for effectiveness. Pacific National has also provided training to leaders regarding risk management so that they can conduct their activities in accordance with the required procedures. |

| Action description |
On 28 February 2024, Pacific National advised the ATSB that it had undertaken to promote consistency and improvement across the board in relation to risk management. Pacific National’s operational and Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability risk register was entirely redeveloped in the preceding 12 months. A new consolidated register was uploaded to the Camms system and risk workshops were held to review and validate risk information. A central repository for all completed operational task-based risk assessments has been established providing a focus area to improve the way Pacific National reviews and monitors risk assessment actions and change management activities. Pacific National's Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability management system for risk management has been updated with new governance documents and tools. To support the implementation of the new documents and tools, an e-learning module has been developed to step frontline leaders through Pacific National’s risk management framework. The module includes how to calculate risk using a risk matrix and how to apply the hierarchy of control to eliminate or reduce unacceptable risks. The module has been incorporated into Pacific National’s ‘Brilliant at the Basics’ frontline safety leadership training program. |
