Pacific National has amended the train management plan and the intermodal procedures manual to remove inconsistencies between the instructions and to ensure that any ancillary tasks undertaken by train crew do not have the potential to divert attention away from the safe operation of the train. The intermodal procedures manual now requires train crews to contact the ISDC prior to arriving at Parkeston with advice of the locomotive/s requiring fuel and the locomotive anticipated fuel level on arrival at Parkeston. This contact is not to interfere with train safe working or to be conducted in a safety critical area. |
