Frayed seatbelt installed on an aircraft used for commercial passenger operations

Reporter's deidentified concern

On [date], the reporter boarded [aircraft registration] for the purpose of a scenic flight. The reporter noticed the seatbelt for their assigned seat was frayed and advised the pilot the seatbelt should not be used until replaced. The pilot advised the seatbelt was in order and safe to use. The reporter subsequently chose another available seat with a serviceable seatbelt.

Regulator's response

The regulator did not provide a response to this REPCON.

Named party's response

On receipt of the REPCON report, the operator advised the frayed seatbelt in [aircraft registration] was sent to maintenance for inspection and was subsequently replaced along with another seatbelt.

The operator further advised a fleetwide seatbelt inspection has also been completed and the reporter's concerns will be investigated internally.
