Circumstances:
During the flight over the Simpson Desert, the pilot realised that the ground features were difficult to relate to his map. Large areas were covered in flood waters which distorted the usual ground features. While still outside the 40 nautical mile rated coverage of the Birdsville Non-Directional Beacon.
