Summary
On 23 September 2026, an Airbus A220-300, registered VH-X4A, was being operated as QantasLink flight QLK1550, a scheduled passenger service from Brisbane to Townsville, Queensland. During the approach into Townsville, the flight crew encountered reduced visibility due to low cloud and conducted a missed approach. Visibility did not improve for the second approach, and another missed approach was conducted.

The evidence collection phase of the investigation will involve interviewing the flight crew, examination of flight records and weather information, and reviewing recorded data.
A final report will be released at the conclusion of the investigation. Should a critical safety issue be identified during the course of the investigation, the ATSB will immediately notify relevant parties, so that appropriate safety action can be taken.
