The Australian Transport Safety Bureau welcomes Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Catherine King’s announcement of the re-appointment of Julie Bullas(Opens in a new tab/window) as our Rail Commissioner.
Ms Bullas was first appointed to the ATSB Commission for a three-year term on 9 October 2023.
“We welcome the Minister’s reappointment for a second three-year term,” said ATSB Chief Commissioner Angus Mitchell.
“Her reappointment provides important continuity to the ATSB, and means we continue to benefit from her extensive industry experience, and her passion for improving transport, and in particular, rail safety.”
Ms Bullas’ industry experience includes serving for 10 years as Executive Director, Policy, Reform and Stakeholder Engagement at the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR), and before which she was project director for the National Rail Safety Regulator Project.
Prior to working with the national rail regulator, Ms Bullas was the road/rail interface specialist for Queensland Rail, and the Director of Rail Safety for Queensland Transport.
As an independent Commonwealth Government statutory agency, reporting to the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, the ATSB is governed by a Commission comprising the Chief Commissioner and three part-time Commissioners.
