Summary
During maintenance of a Bell UH-1B, several cracks were found in a tension-torsion strap from one of the helicopter's main rotor blades. Following the provision of a defect report from the helicopter maintainer, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority has requested the ATSB to complete a technical examination of the defective tension-torsion strap.
To facilitate this work, the ATSB has initiated an external investigation under the provisions of the Transport Safety Investigation Act 2003.
