Accredited Representative to the Transport Accident Investigation Commission investigation of engine shutdown and diversion involving Boeing 787-9, ZK-NZR, near Flinders Island, Tasmania, on 14 August 2025

The Transport Accident Investigation Commission of New Zealand (TAIC) is investigating a fuel‑related engine shutdown and diversion involving a Boeing 787-9, ZK-NZR, near Flinders Island, Tasmania, on 14 August 2025. The TAIC requested assistance from the ATSB.

To facilitate this support and to provide the appropriate protections for the information, the ATSB appointed an accredited representative in accordance with paragraph 5.23 of the International Civil Aviation Organization Annex 13 and commenced an investigation under the Australian Transport Safety Investigation Act 2003.
