The ATSB is Australia’s national transport safety investigator. Investigations seek to identify safety issues and encourage safety action to reduce the risk of future accidents and incidents.
-
The Transport Safety Investigation Act 2003 (TSI Act) provides a legislative basis for the ATSB to conduct rail safety investigations.
-
The aim is to concentrate ATSB’s resources on those investigations considered most likely to enhance rail safety.
