The ATSB is investigating a loading irregularity on an SCT Logistics train 2BM9, near Maitland, New South Wales, on 16 January 2018.

At approximately 0750 while on transit through the Maitland Train Station in NSW, container number MGU7810161 on wagon PQQY50015 of  SCT train 2BM9 struck the roof gutter of the Maitland Train Station platform resulting in minor damage.  There were no disruption to service at the Station or on the train line.

As part of the investigation, the ATSB will interview the crew and gather additional information.

A final report will be released at the end of the investigation.
