The ATSB is investigating a taxiing proximity event involving an Airbus A321 and a Boeing 737 at Melbourne Airport in Victoria, on 30 April 2018.
Approaching a taxiway intersection, the crew of the Airbus A321 noticed a Boeing 737 taxiing towards the same intersection. Air traffic control passed traffic information to the A321 flight crew late, as they reportedly braked to avoid a collision.
As part of the investigation, the ATSB will review available data, interview the controller and flight crew, and gather additional information.
A final report will be released at the conclusion of the investigation. Should a critical safety issue be identified during the course of the investigation, the ATSB will immediately notify relevant parties so appropriate safety action can be taken.
