Summary

At approximately 1750 on 12 October 2017, train 2552 travelling empty from Kippa-Ring to Bowen Hills, Queensland, passed signal PE28 at Petrie on the up suburban line at stop (SPAD). The SPAD triggered an alarm in the Rail Management Centre located in Mayne Yard Bowen Hills. The network control officer broadcast an emergency message via the open channel radio. The driver of train 2552 acknowledged the message and advised that the train had stopped.

There were no injuries or damage.

The ATSB has commenced an investigation into the occurrence and will periodically update the information provided on this web page as it becomes available.
