The ATSB is investigating an in-flight engine fire warning involving Fairchild SA227, VH-SEZ, near Avalon Airport, Victoria, on 3 September 2017.

During cruise, the crew received an engine fire warning and subsequently shut down the No. 1 engine. The aircraft diverted to Avalon Airport and landed without further incident.

As part of the investigation, the ATSB will obtain an engineering report, interview the flight crew and gather additional information.

A final safety report will be released following the conclusion of the ATSB’s investigation. Should a safety issue be identified during the course of the investigation, the ATSB will immediately notify those affected and seek safety action to address the issue.
