Issue status justification:

V/Line has undertaken risk assessments of individual crossings with acute road-to-rail interfaces, and used these assessments to deploy additional risk controls. It continues to consider options for risk controls at crossings with restricted sighting.

Safety issue description

V/Line’s level crossing assessment processes did not result in deployment of available risk controls at many passively protected acute-angle level crossings.
