The ATSB is investigating the descent below segment minimum safe altitude involving Airbus A330-343X, 9M-XXI, near Gold Coast Airport, Qld, on 11 September 2016.

The flight crew were cleared to conduct a RNAV-Z (GNSS) instrument approach to runway 14 at Gold Coast Airport in visual meteorological conditions. During the approach, the aircraft was observed to descend below a segment minimum safe altitude.

A final safety report will be released following the conclusion of the ATSB’s investigation. Should a safety issue be identified during the course of the investigation, the ATSB will immediately notify those affected and seek safety action to address the issue.
