Summary

On 15 October 2015 at 1300 Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), an experimental, amateur built Titan Tornado aircraft, registered N4070F, fitted with a Jabiru engine, was substantially damaged during a forced landing following a total loss of engine power near Mitchells, Virginia. The pilot, the sole occupant of the aircraft, was not injured in the occurrence. As the accident occurred in the United States of America, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) of the USA is responsible for investigating this accident. As part of its investigation, the NTSB has notified the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) as the State of Manufacture of the engine. In accordance with clause 5.18 of Annex 13 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation, the ATSB appointed an accredited representative to liaise with the NTSB and initiated an investigation under the Australian Transport Safety Investigation Act 2003.

The schedule is the responsibility of the investigating state.
