Proactive Action

Action organisation: Sea Swift, Cairns
Action number: MO-2011-005-NSA-018
Date: 08 February 2013
Action status: Closed

The ATSB has been advised by Sea Swift that: the company does not believe there is any ‘ambiguity’ for the following reasons If the rear of the Clinton Coal Wharf is deemed to be in need of protection and damage to it to be detrimental to the port's economic wellbeing then it must be assumed that the wharf face against which the overseas vessels berth must be included. That being the case, the instruction, within the MEP, to clear the wharves does not allow of any ambiguity and is compliant with the MSQ's requirements.

For the reasons discussed above, the company has not amended the MEP concerning the location at which the supporting tug is to be let go in the region of Clinton Wharves.

Current issue status: Not addressed
Status justification:

Company believes that the MEP is consistent with MSQ requirements
