The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) is an operationally independent body within the Australian Government Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government and is Australia's prime agency for transport safety investigations.

As part of a restructure of the Department to make it more responsive to the new Government's priorities, the ATSB Road Safety Branch has moved to Infrastructure and Surface Transport Policy Division.
